Temple of Heaven

The temple originally served as a stage for solemn rites elaborately performed by the Emperor - the Son of Heaven - who prayed here for good harvests, and clearance and atonement for the sins of the people.
The temple halls have round roofs and square bases, which is meant to symbolize heaven and earth. The temple park walls also follow this design of square and round, and determine how people should enter the park.

On the weekend, people of all ages come to this park to play music, sports and relax. It’s always nice to see so many elders taking advantage of the parks in the city to do all kinds of activities instead of staying at home watching tv.
